The overview of membrane filtration technology is as follows:

1、 Technical Definition and Principles

Membrane technology is a technique that uses membranes made of specific materials to separate, purify, and concentrate substances in fluids. This technology is based on the selective permeability characteristics of membranes, where small molecules can freely pass through semi permeable membranes while large molecules are intercepted, thereby achieving separation, purification, and concentration of substances in multiple components.

2、 Filter membrane type

According to the different driving forces of mass transfer, filter membranes are divided into various types, including but not limited to:

Microfiltration (MF): mainly used to remove larger impurities such as suspended solids and particulate matter, with a pore size range generally between 0.1 and 10 microns.

Ultrafiltration (UF): With consistent pore size specifications and a rated pore size range of 0.001~0.02 microns, it can effectively remove large molecular substances such as colloids, bacteria, and viruses.

Nanofiltration (NF): Between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, it can remove smaller molecules and ions, and is commonly used for softening water, removing hardness, etc.

Reverse osmosis (RO): It can remove almost all dissolved salts and most organic matter from water, producing pure or ultrapure water with the maximum pressure difference required.

Electrodialysis (ED): Using potential difference as a driving force to achieve ion separation and concentration.

Dialysis: Using concentration differences as a driving force, commonly used for the separation and purification of biomolecules.

3、 Application Fields

The application fields of membrane filtration technology are very wide, including but not limited to:

Water treatment: used for purifying drinking water, treating industrial water, treating and reusing wastewater, etc.

Food and beverage: separation, concentration, and clarification of fruit juice, dairy products, beer, etc.

Medical pharmaceuticals: separation, concentration, and purification of biological and pharmaceutical products, as well as blood processing.

Industrial manufacturing: semiconductor manufacturing, electronic industry ultrapure water preparation, paint and coating manufacturing, etc.

Environmental protection field: urban sewage treatment, reclaimed water reuse, seawater desalination, etc.

4、 Technical features

Efficiency: Membrane technology can achieve efficient material separation and purification.

Environmental friendliness: No need to add large amounts of chemical agents, reducing pollution to the environment.

Economy: Easy to operate, low maintenance costs, and the ability to achieve the reuse of water resources.

Diversity: There are various types of filter membranes, and suitable ones can be selected according to different needs.

Membrane technology, as an advanced separation technique, plays an important role in multiple fields. With the continuous innovation of technology and the expansion of application fields, membrane technology will usher in a broader development prospect.
